Premier League Predictions - Best EPL Bets for August 23

This is a battle of two of the three newly promoted sides for this season. Last week, I played Sunderland in their return to Premier League action, and that bet could not possibly have gone any better as the Black Cats defeated West Ham by a score of 3-0 at home. This week, I think there’s a great chance that they walk away with at least another point.

Again, Burnley is set to take a major step back defensively, relative to how they performed last season down in the Championship. They lost their goalkeeper (James Trafford) in the offseason. Trafford was the reason Burnley got away with conceding only 16 goals vs. 39.1 xG last season. We saw the Clarets concede three times last week against Tottenham. Don’t see them winning Saturday, so I'll grab the quarter goal and take a half win in case of a draw. (Note: If you are inclined to lay the juice to get +0.5, I wouldn't disagree).

BIG match in the early kickoff in the EPL on Saturday, with Man City playing host to Tottenham.
Both teams started their season with convincing wins, scoring 4 and 3 goals respectively while keeping clean sheets, but the level of difficulty was significantly lower than this match.

Tottenham did beat Man City in 2 of 3 H2H matches last season, but we have to take those results with a grain of salt, as one win came in the EFL Cup, a competition that City weren't really interested in, but Tottenham were, and the other win was a tremendous 4-0 in this venue but hear me out. That was during the period where City had lost the ball. They had won just 1 of 13 matches in all competitions in that span.

Each of L/4 H2H in this venue had 4 goals or more, in fact 3 of those also went to the Over 4.5, with Tottenham scoring 4/3/2/3 goals, and losing just once in that span. But that was a different Tottenham with different coaches, they had Kane and Son up front tearing it up, now this Tottenham is very different. But maybe they can take advantage of City's defense and bag a goal or two here. And if we look how coach Frank's previous team, Brentford, did against City, they did score in 5 of L/6 H2H, so that may be another reason to bet on goals here.  

At least 3 goals in 14 of L/16 H2H in this venue, and at least 4 goals in 11 of 16, but also in each of L/4. So maybe the Over 3.25 Goals isn't a bad bet after all, and you can get that at plus money. If you wanna lay the juice, you might as well take the Over 3 Goals Asian Line (-131) which seems like the safer option here.

Both teams looked extremely impressive last weekend, with Crystal Palace giving Chelsea a real game of it over at Stamford Bridge in what was a tough fought draw, while Nottingham Forest ran over Brentford scoring three goals inside the opening 45 minutes.

We do however, favor the Eagles in this one early on Sunday, as Crystal Palace had one of the better clean percentages in the league last season inside the first-half, hitting 55% overall, while the Eagles also haven't lost at home across any of their last eleven matches either.

Take Crystal Palace to deliver early on Sunday.
