THE PLAY: Lane Hutson Shots On Goal Over 1.5 (-114)

I really like what we've seen from Lane Hutson since the opening game of the season. He managed just two shot attempts in Game 1 and didn't record a shot on goal, but his offensive involvement has increased dramatically since then. Now we're getting plus money on a defenseman whose shot volume has been trending in the right direction.

Since that opening game, Hutson is averaging 5.2 shot attempts per game and has recorded at least two attempts in four straight contests. That's exactly the kind of activity I want to see when betting a shots-on-goal prop. He's consistently looking to put the puck toward the net, and we only need two of those attempts to register as shots on goal.

The matchup against Washington makes this even more attractive. The Capitals are allowing the fifth-most shots on goal in the league, and opposing defensemen have been particularly active against them, recording 15 shots on goal. That's a great setup for an offensive-minded defenseman like Hutson.

What I really like is the combination of his increased shot volume and Washington's struggles to limit shots. Hutson is getting plenty of opportunities to shoot, and the Capitals have been allowing opposing teams to generate shots from the blue line. At 1.5, we don't need a huge performance to cash.

We're getting a player averaging more than five shot attempts recently, facing a defense allowing plenty of shots, and the price is +108. I think there's excellent value here, and I'm happy to take the plus money.
