THE PLAY: Utah Valley -130
2% Utah Valley ML (7:00 ET): Last we saw Utah Valley (Saturday) they suffered a heartbreaking defeat in the WAC Tournament Final to Cal Baptist. There was a last-second alley-oop that the Wolverines failed to convert and, as a result, they’re now in the NIT instead of the NCAA Tournament. Yesterday on the Morning Wager, Mark Zinno and I discussed the potential lack of motivation for Yale, who was coming off a similar heartbreaking defeat in its conference tourney final. But Utah Valley has had more time to recover, plus we’re able to play a team that’s 15-0 SU on its home floor at a decent ML price.
George Washington has been the unluckiest team in America per KenPom. True to form, the Revolutionaries suffered a brutal exit in the A-10 Tourney, blowing all of a 21-point lead and losing 88-81 to top seed Saint Louis (GW didn’t even cover!) It was that kind of season for GW as nine of their previous 14 points or less were by six points or fewer. I just think we have to resign ourselves to “that’s who they are” at this point. I don’t see the Revolutionaries going across the country here and doing what no other visiting team has been able to do this season - that being win in Orem.
Now I know that Utah Valley comes in on an 0-6 ATS slide. But they were favored by 8.5 points in all but one of those games, that being the WAC Tournament Final where they led by seven with under three minutes remaining. Being 31st in the country in 2-point FG%, I believe the Wolverines can feast offensively against a GW team that is only 262nd nationally at defending inside the arc. Utah Valley is also excellent when it comes to forcing turnovers (top 10 rate in the country). I think this team is going to be eager to atone for what happened Saturday and they aren’t going to want to protect that perfect SU home record. GW is just 3-7 SU in “true” road games. 2% Utah Valley ML (Play to -140)

After spending the previous decade at Covers Experts, Bryan Power has wasted little time establishing himself here at WagerTalk. A consistent winner since first emerging on the scene back in 2011, Power didn't have a single losing calendar year in his first decade as a pro handicapper! In April & May of this year (2022), he went on an amazing 154-99-2 (+$41,322) with all plays! October is when he truly made his mark at WT, at one point cashing 22 of 26 plays (85%).
Power handicaps football (both NFL and college), basketball (NBA and college), MLB, Soccer (most major European leagues), and the UFC. He uses a personal set of power ratings, combined with situational handicapping, to make his selections. Multiple bets per day across multiple sports are the norm. Client plays are rated 3%-5%.
