Smart move by Chicago to deploy Eisert early and navigate through Schwarber and Harper in the first inning before handing the ball to Burke. Burke has been solid all season for the White Sox, but he's been even better away from home, posting a 3.05 ERA on the road.
Philadelphia's offense has been ice cold against right-handed pitching. Over the last 14 days, the Phillies rank second-to-last in MLB in wRC+, wOBA, and OPS against righties. Expand that sample to the last 30 days and they still sit third from the bottom in those categories.
On the other side, Painter has been getting hit hard by virtually everyone. He owns a 5.76 ERA at home and has allowed a .900 OPS to right-handed hitters and a .780 OPS to lefties. At this stage, he looks like a pitcher who could benefit from more time in the minors, and if Philadelphia had better alternatives, that's likely where he'd be. Meanwhile, the White Sox rank as a top-10 offense against right-handed pitching over the last 30 days.
The bullpen edge may also lean toward Chicago. While the overall numbers between the two relief staffs are fairly comparable, Philadelphia's high-leverage arms have been heavily used recently, with both Duran and Keller appearing in three of the last four days.
