THE PLAY: Texas State +4.0 (-110)

This is another “Perception vs Reality” game and the public is getting it all wrong. Don't be fooled by UTSA's 'backdoor cover' last week as they scored a meaningless touchdown against Texas A&M's backups to make the final score look respectable. It wasn't.

Their quarterback, Owen McCown, might just be one of the most overrated players in the country. He averaged a pathetic 3.4 yards per pass against A&M's starters. That's not just bad; that's anemic.

On the other side, you've got a Texas State offense that just casually dropped over 600 total yards and ran for 400 last week against Eastern Michigan. They absolutely torched this same UTSA secondary last year, and they know they can do it again. Not to mention I don't have this UTSA defense rated better than last year. We know Texas State defense is dealing with some injuries to starters so I know they won't exactly shutdown McCown and the offense, but they are more than capable of winning a shootout and I believe that is where this game is heading.

My numbers make this line 2. The books are giving us 4? Thank you very much. This is a classic spot where we have 2 lackluster defenses that will give up yards and points and we look to fade the overrated quarterback. Give me Texas State +4 Today!
