THE PLAY: Texas Rangers +132 P Corbin (LHP), R Nelson (RHP) Must Start

There’s a lot to like about the Rangers, starting with their +92 run differential for the season, which is 7th best in all of baseball. No pitching staff has a lower ERA and, in the field, they are #1 in defensive runs saved. Coming into this series at Arizona, the Rangers have won eight of their last nine games including five straight.

During that 8-1 stretch, there have been five games where the Rangers' lineup scored at least seven runs. I get that the losses of Eovaldi, Seager and Semien are all significant, but I believe Texas is very much live to make the playoffs. For Monday, I'd much rather bet them than Arizona at the current prices.

The D'backs come off a demoralizing walkoff loss to the Dodgers Sunday. They do have a slight starting pitching edge here with Ryne Nelson going against Patrick Corbin. But Corbin is coming off his finest outing of the season, eight shutout innings of three-hit ball against the Angels. The D'backs also have a bottom five bullpen.
