This game is basically the Rangers’ entire season. They have lost each of the last two days to the Astros and now are 3.5 games back of the final Wild Card spot in the American League. A win here though and the Rangers would own the head to head tiebreak over the Astros, if that were to come into play. The good news for Texas is they’ll have Jacob deGrom starting tonight. A 2.82 ERA and .92 WHIP for deGrom this season. The Astros have actually scored the second fewest runs of any American League team since the All-Star Break. It was a very misleading 11-0 final (in favor of the Astros) the last time they faced deGrom. Houston’s starter is Cristian Javier. He has given up four runs in each of his last two starts.
