Newbill is the biggest single on-ball edge in the game: 19.3 PPG and 6.7 APG with efficient scoring from all three levels. Tsunoda is a solid organizer at 5.5 APG, but Newbill is the more dangerous creator and tougher late-clock option. Clear edge: Utsunomiya.
Isaac Fotu vs. Tanner Groves
This is the best frontcourt chess piece duel. Fotu gives Utsunomiya 16.3 PPG on 62.6% FG with 7.2 RPG, while Groves gives Saga 17.4 PPG, 8.7 RPG and can stretch a defense. Groves has the bigger raw rebounding number, but Fotu has been the more efficient finisher. Slight edge: Utsunomiya efficiency, Saga volume.
Gavin Edwards / Grant Jerrett vs. David Dudzinski / Josh Harrellson
This is where the game can get won in the ugly middle. Edwards posts 12.0 PPG, 6.8 RPG, Jerrett adds spacing at 39.6% from three, while Dudzinski brings 15.6 PPG and Harrellson gives 6.2 RPG plus size. My baseline blend of season offense/defense, recent scoring form, away/home quality, and current injury context lands this game a hair below the total but a further analysis puts this way under. So a small play on under is where I stand. The season numbers say Utsunomiya is the better team by a meaningful margin: better record, much better point differential, stronger road profile, stronger lead creator, and more frontcourt depth. Saga is competent enough at home to keep this from being an automatic steamroll, but they are stepping into the teeth of the better half-court offense.
Final projection: Utsunomiya 82, Saga 76. Bet under 163.5 or higher.
