THE PLAY: Danny Scudero Receiving Yards Over 53.5 (-114)
Danny Scudero OVER 53.5 Receiving Yards (-124) — Colorado vs. Georgia Tech
Danny Scudero is one of my favorite additions to this Colorado offense. He transfers in from San Jose State after a breakout season where he established himself as an explosive, reliable receiving option. Scudero went over 50 receiving yards in 9 of 12 games last season, and we saw just how high the ceiling can be when he exploded for a 215-yard receiving game. He doesn't need anything close to that here—we're only asking for 50.
Colorado will have a new quarterback in Julian Lewis, and while he's young, he's an extremely talented and highly touted recruit. There could certainly be some growing pains, but having an experienced receiver like Scudero who can consistently create separation should be extremely valuable for a young quarterback. Scudero's speed, hands and ability to get open were major reasons he became one of the country's most productive receivers last season.
The matchup is another reason to like this prop. The secondary looks like the area of Georgia Tech's defense that Colorado should be able to attack, and Scudero doesn't need a huge game to get us home. A handful of catches could be enough to clear 50 yards.
This is also a nice number for a player who showed tremendous consistency last season. He doesn't need a touchdown, and we aren't asking him to get to 75 or 100 yards. We're simply betting on one of Colorado's most talented receiving weapons to produce 50+ yards in a matchup where the passing game should have opportunities.
