THE PLAY: Total Under 149.5 (-110)
We've been eyeing "under" results in North Carolina's games all season and we're not getting off that train any time soon. Eight of the Tar Heels' ten games have stayed under the total, and the two games that went over only did so by two points in each game. With senior guard Seth Trimble suffering an early-season injury, UNC head coach Hubert Davis has put extra emphasis on the defensive end this season. The Tar Heels are top-25 in defensive efficiency, effective field goal shooting allowed and two-point shooting allowed. North Carolina has done a great job of keeping the opposition off the free throw line and not giving away easy points through fouls. Opponents are shooting 40.3-percent from two-point range this season, which is 11.4-percent below the national average. East Tennessee State knows how to play some defense of its own. The Buccaneers led the SoCon in defensive efficiency last season and they are very good at protecting the paint as well. ETSU will allow a high-volume of three-point attempts, but that is not something the Tar Heels specialize in this season. North Carolina is only shooting 32.8-percent from the three-point line, which is below the national average. Only 30.3-percent of North Carolina's points come from beyond the arc, which is outside the top-200. If the Buccaneers can force UNC into a jump shooting contest, they can hang around for a while. Neither team plays at a brisk pace. This looks like another low-scoring affair in Chapel Hill.
