THE PLAY: Total Under 6.5 (-120)
This is a rematch of last year's Eastern Conference Finals. Carolina won in five games and went on to win the Stanley Cup. Three of those five games stayed below the total, including both at Montreal. Those two games here had scores of 3-2 (in OT) and 4-0. The Canadiens managed just five goals in the final four games combined. Importantly, all five games had O/U lines of 5.5 or 6. Tuesday's total opened at 6.5, giving us more room to work with. While the Habs are off a high-scoring game, the Canes have only scored five total goals in three games. The Champs allowed two goals in one game and one in another. Prior to their 6-5 loss against the Penguins, Montreal's season opener was a 3-2 win at Toronto. Go with the under.
THE PLAY: Miami Ohio -2.5 (-115)
I successfully played against the Minutemen last week. I felt that they weren't as good as their 4-0 record and that they shouldn't be laying that many points against Eastern Michigan. Sure enough, the underdog Eagles smoked them 38-14. No longer undefeated, UMass is now arguably facing an even tougher opponent. The Redhawks are 0-2 on the road but those losses came at Pittsburgh and Cincinnati and they nearly won the game against the Bearkats. The Redhawks are 4-0 the past four h2h meetings. This season, Miami has alternated wins and losses going L,W,L,W,L. Off last week's loss, look for the Hawks to bounce back and win their fifth straight in the series. *good at -3 or better
