Rays vs Orioles Prediction and Betting Preview | June 16

Gunnar Henderson attempts to hit MLB player props - June 16, 2025

Monday’s Rays vs Orioles contest at Steinbrenner Field will set the tone for an interesting month between these AL East rivals. Baltimore and Tampa will play ten games against one another over the course of the next month as the Orioles look to claw their way back into playoff contention.

Baltimore Orioles

The Orioles got off to a disastrous start this season, but their lineup has begun to turn things around recently. In the month of June, Baltimore is hitting .263 (No. 4 in MLB) with a .325 on-base percentage (No. 8) and a 121 wRC+ (No. 3).

Baltimore is coming off a three-game sweep of the Angels over the weekend, and suddenly, it’s not all doom-and-gloom at Camden Yards. The Orioles still have plenty of work to do to get back into playoff contention, but the path to get there doesn’t look quite as daunting as it did before.

In the AL Central, the Twins, Guardians and Royals have all gone 2-8 in their last ten games as Detroit has jumped out to a massive lead in that division. Boston just shipped its best player to the National League in a shocking trade on Sunday night. Toronto is unlikely to add pieces at the trade deadline because the Blue Jays need to pay for Vlad Guerrero’s contract.

Of the teams that are ahead of the Orioles in the Wild Card race, how many are legit championship contenders?

Tampa Bay Rays

Starting pitcher Ryan Pepiot has struggled with giving up hard contact at Steinbrenner Field this season. Eleven of the 13 home runs that he has allowed have been at home. Pepiot has allowed multiple home runs in four of his nine starts at home. He enters Monday in the bottom-third among pitchers in hard-hit rate and average exit velocity.

Rays vs Orioles Stat Breakdown

Rays vs Orioles Prediction

It’s a small sample size, but the lefties in Baltimore’s lineup have enjoyed success against Ryan Pepiot in the past. Ryan O’Hearn is 3-for-6 with a double. Gunnar Henderson is 2-for-6 with a home run. Hitting conditions should be very favorable with warm temperatures in the mid-80s and a healthy breeze blowing out to right-center.
