NRFI Best Bet Today #1: Arizona Diamondbacks vs Detroit Tigers (-115)

We’re heading to the Motor City for our first NRFI play today as the Diamondbacks and Tigers play the second of a three-game set. Brandon Pfaadt gets the start for Arizona not allowing a first inning run in 15 of his 21 starts on the season including three straight.

Sure, he has a 5.94 ERA on the road, but in his last road start at San Diego he went eight innings while allowing just two earned runs.

Through four July starts he posts a 2.73 ERA with the Tigers playing to a NRFI in seven of their last ten games.

They’ll send all-star Casey Mize to the mound who hasn’t allowed a first inning run in 15 of 17 total stats including eight straight with the Diamondbacks failing to score in the first inning in four straight.

Mize was roughed up against the Pirates of all teams in his last start so we have to assume some adjustments will be made out of the gates.

The Diamondbacks have scored just two total runs combined across their last four games so let’s play on a Diamondbacks vs Tigers NRFI to occur today with odds listed at -115 and first pitch set for 6:40PM ET.

NRFI Best Bet Today #2: Tampa Bay Rays vs New York Yankees (-130)

The Yankees will play their fourth straight game without Aaron Judge and through the first three the team is batting just .216 collectively as they’ll host the Rays for the second of a four-game set.

Joe Boyle gets the start for Tampa Bay and although he’s pitched just 19 innings this season, he’s sporting a 1.42 ERA and didn’t allow a first inning run in his only start this season.

He’s allowing just a .095 opponent batting average this season with the Yankees sending out their ace in Max Fried.

There’s no doubt he has been shaky as of late but collectively Rays batters are hitting just .109 against Fried all-time with all five hits in 46 at-bats being singles.

He hasn’t allowed a first inning run in 16 of his 21 total starts this season with the Rays failing to score a first inning run in 83% of road games this season which is tied for highest percentage in the MLB.
