Historically, Mikolas is prone to giving up the long ball with 25 or more home runs given up in each of his last four seasons as a member of the Cardinals.

Steer has matched that consistency in the hitting department with 20 or more home runs in each of his last three seasons.

It’s worth noting that Mikolas hasn’t pitched more than 5.1 innings in any start this season, but not to worry as the Washington bullpen has given up the second most home runs to opposing hitters of any bullpen in the MLB this season.

After a six-game road trip the Pirates head home to host the Rockies who send Michael Lorenzen to the mound.

The Rockies starter has been struggling this season allowing seven home runs in 39 innings pitched to go along with a 6.92 ERA.

He’s also slugging .607 this month and against Lorenzen all-time is 2-8 with a double and a home run. Lowe is a lefty and Lorenzen has had his troubles against specifically lefties this season allowing six of his seven home runs to them while allowing them to hit .427 to go along with a .793 slugging percentage.

In comparison he has allowed righties to hit .293 and allowing a .370 slugging percentage on the season. Lorenzen didn’t give up many home runs early in his career as a member of the Reds, but those times have changed giving up an average of 21 home runs a season across his last three.

Lowe has eight of his ten home runs against righties this season while slugging .660 against them so let’s take Lowe to hit his home run prop tonight for the 11th time at +430 before first pitch in Pittsburgh at 6:40PM ET.
