THE PLAY: Indianapolis Colts -135

The ‘Daily Double’ video posted below has ‘free play’ winners for the Patriots vs the Colts and the Chargers vs the Texans in Thursday’s NFL Preseason action. Here’s a brief write-up for my take on the Colts as a ‘bet-on’ team in Week 1 of the Preseason.
The first rule of preseason is this — your opinions about how good or bad teams are going to be in the regular season don’t matter one bit in August. Betting NFL in August is about betting on information, not opinions. And one of the best ‘tried and true’ betting systems for August is to bet ON teams with backup quarterback battles. Tommy Devito is the clearly established backup in New England; rookie Behran Morten is likely to get the majority of second half snaps. But for Indy, Anthony Richardson and Riley Leonard are locked in a ‘high stakes’ battle for the backup QB job. That’s two QB’s who are familiar with the offense playing very meaningful snaps for Week 1 of preseason. Expect that to matter on the scoreboard. When laying less than a field goal in August, I prefer the moneyline; just asking teams to win instead of asking them to win by margin. This is a game that Indy should win. THE PLAY: Total Under 8.5 (-101) Action
Take the New York Yankees – Seattle Mariners UNDER (#969- #970) (action)
This is how good the Yankees pitching has been. New York has won 13 games since the All Star Break. They’ve scored three runs or less in 9 of those 13 victories – a lineup that’s not hitting, but a team that’s still winning games because their staff has been extraordinarily effective. The Yanks got to four runs offensively last night (all in one seventh inning rally) and still cashed Run Line bets with room to spare. The Bronx Bombers bullpen has been elite; even second tier starters like Will Warren have been consistently effective.
Seattle can’t hit either; the single lowest scoring team in baseball this season. Their lineup couldn’t be colder, producing 0, 1, 2, 1 & 1 runs while losing each of their last five games. Current Yankees have hit a combined .140 against Bryce Miller in their respective careers; both bullpens have their best ‘high leverage’ relief arms available. Expect another relatively low scoring affair – both teams are 5-1 to the Under in their last six, an emerging trend worth riding tonight. Not listing starting pitchers here -- this is all about two lineups that simply aren't hitting. Take the UNDER.

In one sentence, Teddy looks to identify and identify and isolate 'morphing' teams -- teams that are currently playing at a different level or pace (better or worse; faster or slower) than their long term statistical profile would indicate. Those become teams to bet on, bet against, bet over and bet under, until the quants catch up with current realities and value them correctly.
This ‘Ride the Hot & Fade the Cold’ approach has allowed Teddy to provide for himself and his family with steady income from his sports betting winnings, over nearly three decades.
