The 49ers are coming off a bad, four turnovers defeat in Atlanta before their bye week — there’s some urgency for Kyle Shanahan’s squad off that debacle. San Fran also enjoys a significant rest edge compared to Las Vegas. Teams with extra rest have been $$ in the NFL this year, an emerging trend worth riding here. Las Vegas isn’t getting many stops these days — a dismal defensive team in recent weeks — and they’re coming off a very satisfying win to snap a four game skid. Expect a new skid to start here in a game the Niners are primed to win by margin! Take the 49ers.
THE PLAY: Jacksonville Jaguars -10.0 (-108)

The Ravens expected to be Super Bowl contenders this year. Instead, Baltimore is a bottom feeder playing with a third string QB with Lamar Jackson and Snoop Huntley both on IR and Joe Fagnano banged up too — we could potentially see fourth stringer Kedon Slovis if Fagnano doesn’t hold up. It’s not like the Ravens defense can carry the team through this dismal stretch, and it’s not like a freefalling team with preseason championship aspirations is primed for a strong showing here. If I’m playin’ I’m layin’. Take the Jaguars.

Blazers are showing all the signs of being a ‘bet-on’ team in early season NBA action. Portland is a small market team that doesn’t get many national TV games; relatively anonymous, ensuring they retain their value. Their superstar, Deni Advija, is as unhyped as any elite player in the league. Big man Donovan Clingan is a low post stud. Even without the injured Ja Morant, Portland’s guard depth is excellent. This team is Top 5 in offensive rating and Top 10 in defensive rating thusfar, in sharp contrast to the Phoenix Suns ‘dead last in the NBA; worse than the Bulls and Kings’ defensive numbers to open the season. The Blazers are 4-0 on the road and they beat the Suns by 41 when they met to open the season. Asking Portland to win this one by four points or more is a very reasonable ask for this bettor! Take the Blazers.

Ted Sevransky (better known as Teddy Covers) moved to Las Vegas to bet on sports full-time back in 1998 and he's been doing it successfully ever since. Teddy starred in the recent sports betting documentary Life on the Line and has been featured in an ESPN 30-for-30 and on Showtime's 'Action' miniseries.
Teddy is a 1992 University of Michigan graduate. His handicapping approach is fine tuned for the modern betting marketplace in 2025; a market that is dominated by stat-based quants - the ‘sharp money’. In one sentence, Teddy looks to identify and identify and isolate 'morphing' teams -- teams that are currently playing at a different level or pace (better or worse; faster or slower) than their long term statistical profile would indicate. Those become teams to bet on, bet against, bet over and bet under, until the quants catch up with current realities and value them correctly.
This ‘Ride the Hot & Fade the Cold’ approach has allowed Teddy to provide for himself and his family with steady income from his sports betting winnings, over nearly three decades.
