Tonight, pitching in front of his home fans, Clayton Kershaw is poised to “join the club.” Only three other southpaws (CC Sabathia, Randy Johnson and Steve Carlton) have reached 3000 K's. Also, only two other pitchers (Walter Johnson, Senators; Bob Gibson, Cardinals) have recorded 3000 K's with the same team. With the way that the game has changed, we're not likely to see many more pitchers ever reach 3000. Kershaw, in his 18th season, needs three more to get there. Of course, Kershaw and co. are going to want to win this historic game. The Dodgers have the best record in baseball. The ChiSox are the worst in the American League. Off yesterday's 6-1 win, the Dodgers have beaten the Sox five straight times. This should be another blowout.
