THE PLAY: Golden State Warriors +8.0 (-110)

Golden State and Cleveland are much closer in underlying numbers than the spread suggests. The Warriors sit near neutral in scoring margin with a slightly faster pace, while Cleveland is only a small step ahead offensively. There is not an 8-point gap between them on a neutral court, and now you’re asking a Cavs team that’s already struggled ATS at home to win by margin again on the 2nd leg of back to back games. The Cavs’ recent success has leaned on hot shooting and home whistle more than dominant defense, and their season-long defensive profile is closer to middle-of-the-pack than lockdown.

Now factor in the schedule spot…this is a brutal run for Cleveland. 2nd game of a back-to-back, 3rd in 4, 4th in 6, 5th in 7... That’s the textbook fatigue zone where favorites start leaking value late, especially if they’re already a little banged up. Meanwhile Golden State can push tempo against tired legs. If the Warriors’ three-point shooting simply regresses back toward their normal baseline while Cleveland’s recent hot streak cools at all, this sets up to be a lot closer than 8 points. I like Warriors +8, and I’d still be comfortable with it down to +6.
