THE PLAY: Chicago Blackhawks +1.5 (-118)

The Avalanche are off to a great start and are currently on a hot streak. As a result, they're becoming increasingly expensive. In today's game, despite playing on the road, they're heavy favorites on the money-line which has brought the puck-line into play. I feel that getting an extra +1.5 goals with the home underdog is the way to go. The Hawks got humbled last game. However, that was on the road and they were playing their second game in two days. They're 5-5 in their 10 home games. Importantly, six of those games were decided by a single goal, including four of the losses. In other words, one would be be 9-1 in their home games, if getting an extra +1.5 goals in each. The lone loss that was by more than a goal was a 3-1 setback to the Kings. That was nearly a month ago and the Kings' third goal came via the empty net. So, the Hawks have been very competitive at home. They split last season's two games here against the Avs and the loss was by a goal. This should be another close one.
