2* Rotation #971: MLB Tuesday 2* Houston Astros -170 vs Oakland Athletics @ 8:10 ET - We reduce our rating to a 2* here rather than play the run line and risk getting burned on a 1-run win for the Astros. I do expect them to roll again like yesterday but don't want to risk losing on the run line if Houston wins a tight one today. The money line in in the -170 range is why I am going with a 2* here. The Astros have a pitching edge with Ronel Blanco over JP Sears in this one. I know Sears has decent numbers on the season but he just got rocked by the Rangers in his most recent start and that was at home. Also, he got hammered in his most recent road start as well. That was at Baltimore and he allowed 6 earned runs in 7 innings! Unlike Sears, Blanco has truly been nearly unhittable on a consistent basis! Opponents are hitting only .163 against him this season and he has a 4-0 record overall. Also, Houston has won all 4 of his home starts this season. Blanco should dominate again here as another key is this Oakland team only has one guy that ever has faced him and that was just for one at-bat. Conversely, the Athletics are loaded with guys with experience against Sears. Last but not least, the A's have gone cold again and lost 7 of 9 games! As for the Astros, they have won 4 of 5 games and, including their series in Mexico, Houston has won 6 of 9 games as a host or at neutral site. The Astros have underachieved so far this season while the A's have overachieved. That has led to value in a spot like this and we will not pass it up. Lay it! 2* HOUSTON -170
