(511) Denver Nuggets at (512) Minnesota Timberwolves

(511) Denver Nuggets at (512) Minnesota Timberwolves
May 12, 2024 8PM EDT
Play Rating:
3% – (511) Denver Nuggets at (512) Minnesota Timberwolves Total Over 204.5 (-110)

The reigning champions looked completely overmatched in the first two games of the series, but the Denver Nuggets showed tons of energy on Friday night and dominated from tip-off in a 117-90 victory in Game 3. That was the worst offensive game of the postseason for the Timberwolves, shooting 43.7-percent from the field and 30.3-percent from beyond the arc while committing 16 turnovers. The Nuggets led by as many as 34 points behind strong efforts from Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray who shot a combined 21-of-39 (54-percent) from the field. Michael Porter Jr. also bounced back from a poor Game 2 effort with 21 points on an efficient 6-of-10 effort from the field. The Timberwolves' biggest advantage in the series has been their bench play but Naz Reid scored only seven points on 2-of-7 shooting from the field and Nickeil Alexander-Walker scored just six points on 2-of-5 shooting in Game 3. The Nuggets made the necessary offensive adjustments in Game 3, and we believe it will be Minnesota's turn to answer on Sunday. After Games 1 and 2 stayed under the total, Denver carried enough of the weight to get Game 3 over the total. We believe both teams will contribute in Game 4. Denver's starting five each scored in double figures and they shot an outstanding 48.3-percent from three-point land. Minnesota's bench won't play as poorly as it did in Game 3. With Denver finding its stride on offense, we feel confident that the Timberwolves will match them in Game 4. This total is a few ticks too low.
