Analysis

In what many tabbed as the most mundane series at the start of the playoffs, the Magic and Cavaliers will play the only Game 7 in the first round. The home team has won each of the first six games of this series, and we expect that trend to continue on Sunday. Let's start with a quick discussion on the total before shifting to the side. When this series started two weeks ago, the Game 1 total closed at 206.5 points. As of Saturday morning, we're looking at 195 or 195.5 in the marketplace for Game 7. If it closes in that neighborhood, it will be the lowest total in any playoff game that we've seen thus far this season. However, low-scoring Game 7's in the opening round have not been as prevalent as they are in later rounds of the playoffs. Game 7 totals in Round 1 are 15-13 (53.6-percent) to the over. But after Round 1, Game 7 totals in the later rounds are 25-9 (73.5-percent) to the under. Cavs' big man Jarrett Allen has missed the last two games in this series, but we believe that he's going to suit up on Sunday. Donovan Mitchell scored 50 of the team’s 96 total points in their Game 6 loss on Friday. Without Allen on the floor, Cleveland was out-rebounded 48-38 including 15-7 on the offensive glass. The Cavaliers shot just 25-percent from three-point range and went just 5-of-10 at the free throw line. We expect all of those metrics to improve for Game 7 at home. In Game 5, the Cavs shot 35-percent from three-point range and 15-of-19 from the free throw line. As we have seen several times in the past, there are certain levels and milestones that young teams must achieve as they progress up the league's pecking order. Orlando has already achieved regular season success and the Magic have shown that they can win on their home floor. They haven't shown that they can win on the road, and we believe that trend will continue on Sunday. Look for Orlando to continue to climb the Eastern Conference standings next season, but in a Game 7 environment at home, we want to back Cleveland's experience.

We are recommended a moneyline play on the Cavs up to -190. If you are not interested in laying the moneyline price, we recommend a play on the spread up to (and including) Cleveland -5.
