(923) Toronto Blue Jays at (924) Washington Nationals
The Blue Jays head to DC for a weekend series with the Nationals Friday, and we have a prime “fade” candidate on the opposing side. Patrick Corbin was tagged for 7 runs in his last start against the lowly Marlins, and he’s given up at least 4 earned in 5 of his 6 starts this season. His wOBA of .417 is absurdly high, and the rest of his metrics aren’t any better. In fact, Corbin ranks in the 1st percentile in pitching run value. In short, he’s one of the worst starters in the league. Yusei Kikuchi has been excellent this year, allowing 2 runs or fewer in 4 of his 6 trips to the hill. His one subpar appearance came against a powerful Dodger lineup, so he takes a significant step down in class here. Toronto’s bullpen isn’t great, so we’ll cut this game in half and cash a ticket fading Corbin. Take the Blue Jays F5 RL.
