Ashcraft has a better record but Eovaldi is pitching better. Through five starts, Eovaldi is averaging six innings and has a 3.30 ERA. At home, his ERA dips to 2.31 to go along with a stingy 0.857 WHIP. Through four starts, Ashcraft is averaging 5.5 innings and has a 5.24 ERA. Eovaldi has been facing touger competition of late as his last two starts were at Houston and Atlanta. (Houston still isn't an easy venue, even with the Astros poor start and Atlanta is very tough.) Ashcraft's last two starts were against the White Sox and Angels.
