Analysis

The Twins host the White Sox at Target Field continuing their four-game series. Minnesota sends Pablo Lopez to the mound. In his career, he's been very good against the White Sox. His ERA is 4.12, which is not great. But his WHIP is 0.96 with 26 strikeouts in 17.2 innings. He's held the White Sox to a .227 batting average and a .634 OPS. Last year, he was excellent in two starts against them going at least seven innings and allowing two runs in each, but got banged around in a start in late September. He's facing a White Sox lineup that that dead last in batting average, OPS and wRC+ on the season. In theory, Lopez should have no problem taking care of business here. Where this could get dicey is the Twins lineup, which hasn't been great this season, is facing a competent starter in Erick Fedde. He's made four starts, coincidentally against all AL Central teams and has a 3.10 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP. The Twins are bottom five overall and at home in batting average, OPS and wRC+ on the season. They had a seven-run outburst last night, so that scares me as well that some regression may be coming. But the White Sox are 4-13 on the run line over their last 17 games and have only one road win. The Sox bullpen isn't great either as they are bottom five in WHIP and have allowed the fourth most home runs.
