Red Sox (7:10PM ET MLB Network) – A busy day on the bases on Wednesday finishes up in in prime time as the Boston Red Sox look to bounce back in the third game of a four-game set at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts.

I’m trying my hardest not to lay vig in MLB this season, but I’ll make an exception here since I’ve had this Ben Lively fade spot circled for over a week. I’ve watched a ton of Lively, I followed his career closely in KBO during his time with the Samsung Lions and kept a close eye on him last year with the Reds.  Lively is a great guy to have in an organization, he’s very effective against AAA hitters and throws strikes so he can be an effective stop gap for a team that doesn’t have a better option.  The problem with Lively is he doesn’t have much velo and his stuff isn’t devastating so if his command isn’t pinpoint his stuff gets squared up and that’s what we saw for much of his time with the Reds last year.  I think the plan was to keep Lively down at AAA Columbus for some organizational depth but a recent double header and an injury to Shane Bieber have created a need for a spot start today.  Lively can be great in that role, if his command is sharp he’s going to give his team 5-6 innings and keep his team in the game (which is exactly what a spot starter is out there to do) but Lively was on the IL with illness to start the season so I would be surprised if he’s hitting all of his spots right now.  That’s where the issue is for Lively, when he’s not sharp he leaves very hittable pitches out over the plate and that’s why even with a few great outings for the Reds last season he still finished with a 5.38 ERA in 19 appearances.  Here he’s up against a Red Sox team that can hit and I think that puts the Guardians in a tough spot here.  Play on Red Sox -125 for 4% (or 4 units)
