Solid day on the bases yesterday and my only real regret was not coming back with the Giants (lost with them on Friday) as San Francisco FINALLY broke out offensively.  You can read my write up on Friday regarding the reason I thought some positive regression might be due for this Giants offense and it came all at once yesterday as the Giants racked up 11 runs on 13 hits in a blowout win.

Also very important yesterday was the performance of Logan Webb, he went 7 innings and completely saved the Giants bullpen which means San Francisco has all of their top relievers to back up Blake Snell today.  Erik Miller and Nick Avila mopped up in the 8th and 9th which makes me less concerned about Snell on a pitch count here.

I'm throwing out Snell's outing against the Nationals last week, Snell didn't have any live action in Spring Training and admitted to being way too amped up for his first start in a Giants uniform.  Snell worked through extended Spring and I view his start against the Nats as his rehab outing so I think we get a far better 75-80 pitch effort out of Snell here.

I'm not sure that's going to be the case for Rays starter Shawn Armstrong who is probably just out there to “open” with Tyler Alexander back from the bereavement list.  Tampa Bay is probably looking at 5-6 innings out of this duo today that enters play with 5.68 and 8.68 ERA's respectively.  Backing up that duo is a Rays bullpen that enters play with the worst ERA in MLB.  If San Francisco reverts back to not hitting they might lose here but I think yesterday was the sign of this Giants offensive finally breaking out and I think they ride that to a series win at the Trop this afternoon.
