The Brewers and Twins may feel like they are looking in the mirror on Tuesday, and in a game with two comparable starting pitchers, two comparable lineups and two comparable bullpens, we want to be on the Brewers in their home opener. Minnesota enjoyed a series win on the road in Kansas City to kick off the season, but it wasn't all rainbows and butterflies for the Twins. Emerging shortstop Royce Lewis was injured on Opening Day and star closer Jhoan Duran is waiting to come off the IL. Take a closer look at the box scores from Minnesota's wins over the Royals. In Thursday's 4-1 win, Minnesota had a 2-1 lead heading into the ninth inning before getting a pair of runs against Chris Stratton. In Saturday's 5-1 win, it was a 1-1 game heading into the ninth inning before the Twins got four off Will Smith. Minnesota scored nine runs in that three-game series, and eight of them were scored off the Royals' shaky bullpen. They are not going to enjoy that kind of luxury against the Brewers. Entering the season, FanGraphs had Milwaukee's bullpen ranked No. 6 in baseball. The Brewers had off on Monday, so all of the key arms are rested. The Brewers' defense was No. 2 in defensive runs saved last season. At full-strength with Lewis and Duran we'd probably give the nod to the Twins. But with some early-season injuries to deal with and a rested Brewers' bullpen, we'll gladly back Milwaukee at an affordable price in their home opener.
