2% Take the Chicago Cubs (#979) (action)

The Rangers won the World Series last Fall.  They unfurled the championship banner on opening day, then pulled out a win in extra innings. Yesterday, they scored 11 unanswered runs; hitting five dingers after the Cubs took a 2-0 lead in the top of the second.  Sunday – early start afternoon delight – is the clear ‘flat spot’ for Texas.  This bet isn’t based on starting pitching (action), but its worth noting that Rangers starter Jon Gray missed his final spring training start due to a neck injury.

I like promising young lefties like Chicago’s Jordan Wicks in their first starts around the league.  I also look to bet on quality teams – like Chicago, a winning team a year ago and a playoff contender in 2024 – to avoid the series sweep on Sunday – when they’ve lost the first few games of the series.  The Cubs went 6-1 with Wicks on the hill in his seven starts after getting called up last year; his first four outings all gems.  This is a potent lineup that has punched out only five runs in two games, primed to notch the minor ‘upset’ on the road in Arlington today.  Take the Cubs.
