Arizona Diamondbacks Total Over 5.5 (+100) R Feltner (RHP), B Pfaadt (RHP) Must Start…(5%)

As we've already seen through spring training and the first few games of the season, the Colorado Rockies pitching staff can't be trusted, and I'm fading them today with Ryan Feltner on the mound in the fourth and final game of this four-game series to open up the season.

The young right-hander for the Rockies held a 5.83 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP in 2022 and wasn't any better last year. In 2023, Feltner had an ERA of 5.82 and a WHIP of 1.68. He doesn't go deep in games, which is probably a good thing for the Rockies, but when he is in the game, he has significant issues with walking batters and getting high pitch counts early into his starts. His match-up against the Diamondbacks is not great either,  giving up ten runs (nine earned) with an 0-2 record in seven innings.

When taking a team total, I can't just handicap the starter; I have to think about the bullpen as well, and that hasn't been great for the Rockies to start the year either. I have the Rockies bullpen ranked dead last in my personal ratings, and due to the high-scoring last few games, their usage rates are through the roof. Tyler Kinley has 48 pitches over the last three games, Vodnik has 46, and Beeks has 43.

The Diamondbacks have scored 27 runs through the first three games of this series. After dropping yesterday's game and facing a weak starting pitcher and a tired bullpen, I'll look for their offense to continue tonight as they crush this team total and get us to at least six runs.
