Analysis

3% Take the LA Dodgers on the RUN LINE (#914) (action)

Expect a steady diet of ‘Dodgers Run Line’ for this bettor this season; a ‘sin of omission’ not playing it on opening day, but I wanted to make sure the Dodgers bats were regular season ready.  They are, pounding out seven runs including two dingers, ten hits and four walks on Thursday followed by another six run showing on Friday with three more dingers. LA is picking up right where they left off from when they played the Padres in Korea last week (16 runs scored in the two games).

This isn’t about a starting pitching matchup --- it’s about two teams that are in very different places right now.   That said, Lance Lynn pitched for the Dodgers last year – they know his stuff as well as anybody – and Lynn allowed an MLB high 44 home runs in 32 starts last year.  At 36, he’s a long way from ‘trustworthy’.  And while LA’s $325 million dollar man Yoshinobu Yakamoto got roughed up in Korea last week, the guy just won three straight ‘Cy Young Awards’ (the equivalent in Japan) as the best pitcher in the league.  He’ll be fine.

LA has as good of a roster – top to bottom – that I’ve seen in my 26 baseball seasons in Las Vegas. The bullpen is excellent, the backups are excellent – this team has no major flaws, lined as the best team in baseball for good reason.  St Louis finished in last place in the lowly NL Central last year; a proud franchise that has fallen on hard times.  I’m not convinced this year is going to be a whole lot better.  The Dodgers have beaten the Cardinals in each of the last seven meetings on this field; six of them coming by three runs or more. Expect more of the same tonight.  Take the LA Dodgers on the RUN LINE
