Hungarian Grand Prix Betting Analysis

Verstappen put on another masterful performance last race, and he’ll look to do it again in Hungary this week.

This track only has one DRS zone so maybe we won’t see as much passing, and with only one DRS zone, it will be essential for someone to get out ahead of Max early in order to stop the winning streak.

If Max gets out to the lead, and there’s only one straight where a car could have the speed advantage over the Red Bull, Max could very well check out early.

On paper, maybe this might not seem like a Red Bull trap, but we said that at Monaco and Max showed that every track is a Red Bull track. Weather looks to be great on Saturday and Sunday with the only chance of rain on Friday, and Max is currently a -300 favorite to win.

Top Hungarian Grand Prix Storylines

Daniel Ricciardo returns to Formula 1, and he’s leaving no secret as to what his plan is. Drive well for Alpha Tour, and take Sergio Perez’s seat in 2025. It’s been a few years for Ricciardo so it’s possible we see a bit of rust from him early on, but he looks to have found new excitement and motivation for his second life in F1. I won’t be betting on or against him, but like everyone else I’ll be paying attention to him more than just about anyone else.

Tire Degradation – Teams won’t have as many sets of tires in qualifying as they’re used to so they’ll run Hards in Q1, Mediums in Q2 and Softs in Q3. This track can eat up tires so teams who can’t manage tires well will struggle and that means we’ll look to fade Haas as they’ve really struggled with that recently. On a track with tire degradation, one thing is for certain: We will hear Lewis Hamilton complaining about tires multiple times over the radio.

Sergio Perez – Talk about pressure. His replacement is racing in the field, and he can’t get into Q3 despite the fact he’s in the second best car in Formula 1. We’ll see if he still makes the big mistake in qualifying, and if he does what a scene we could have if Perez and Ricciardo are starting off close to each other on the grid on Sunday.

Can McLaren keep up their new pace? McLaren has shocked the racing world with their new found speed, and this track will be a fascinating test for them. They seem to prefer hard tyres so we’ll see how they hold up on a track with only one long straight. I would think this track would suit Fernando Alonso well so McLaren might be fighting with Mercedes, Ferrari and Aston Martin which should create some spirited racing within the top six.

Hungarian Grand Prix Betting Notes

Mercedes is -250 for Double Top 10 which is a fantastic parlay piece

-The books still don’t believe in Alex Albon as he’s +225 to finish Top 10 despite him finishing 11th and 8th the last two weeks

-Tough loss if you had over 17.5 classified cars last week as Lance Stroll wrecked Gasly on purpose with 6 laps left. I don’t foresee reliability issues at this track, I would go back to it again.

Hungarian Grand Prix Prediction

It should be another Verstappen win, and the action should be behind them. I’m hoping for a safety car with about 25 laps left so we can all get a good laugh at Ferrari’s expense when they inevitably mess up in-race strategy so I expect them to have good speed, but they’re such a wild card that they could finish top four or both of them outside the top eight.

Mercedes should be steady, but with limited upside as Russell has not really been a threat for a few races so a head to head of Hamilton over Russell might be a good wager.

I suspect Alonso will have a strong week, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him make a run at the podium. The true wild cards are Sergio Perez and McLaren’s.

If Perez qualifies up front finally, he’ll be looking for a podium finish, and with McLaren I guess I have to believe in their new upgrades, but I have a suspicion that other cars will be better on the softs than them so I think Top 6 for Norris and top 8 for Piastri would be a good week.

Hungarian Grand Prix Best Bet

You don’t need me to tell you that Max should win this race, but people get scared off by the -300 price. Don’t get scared off. You can bet three units to win one with confidence.

There aren’t many bets in sports where -300 is a sweet deal, but this bet continues to be a great price. If you want to use it as a parlay piece, you can look at putting it with Makhmud Muradov ML in the UFC this week giving you a parlay at only -155.
