Belgian Grand Prix Betting Analysis

***This is a sprint weekend. On Friday, they will practice and then qualify with the qualifying results making the starting grid for Sunday. Saturday is an entire sprint day with two sessions, one being a session to determine the starting order for the sprint race, and the other session being the sprint race***

Another win, and another easy cash on Max Verstappen to win if you played him at -300 or if you used him as a parlay piece. It continues to be one the best bets in sports, and best believe we will be using it in a parlay this week.

Weather is going to be a massive factor this week. There will be rain all weekend, especially on Friday and Saturday. Several websites I’ve looked at have differing predictions on Sunday, so we’ll hope for the best, and expect the worst.

This is a big track with some some big stretches for the drivers to get up to high speeds before slowing down for some sharp turns, and it’s impossible to say that there is any track that isn’t a Verstappen track, and he’s very good in the rain so no matter what the weather, this is Max’s race to lose

Top Belgian Grand Prix Storylines

Two Teams Struggling– A couple teams trending down are Aston Martin and Ferrari. Aston Martin just hasn’t improved, and it feels like other teams are passing them on and off the track. Their best finishes the last three races in order are 5th, 7th, 9th, and they are probably considered the 4th or 5th fastest team. Ferrari just cannot get it together and their lack of cohesion with divers and team strategy is glaring and it’s costing them positions. Both drivers are getting vocal about their displeasure with the team, and it’s hard to see improvement from them when the pit strategy is constantly wrong with their in-race decision

Lewis Hamilton Not Top Tier– Hamilton couldn’t take advantage of his pole position as he just doesn’t have the Red Bull or Lando Norris Pace so his 4th place finishing position might be the ceiling for him right now. The Mercedes Double Top 10 prop continues to hit, and it looks like it’s time to take McClaren Top 10 or even Double Top 6 into serious consideration for our weekly “rinse and repeat bets”. Piastri is showing real maturity and ability with the new fast car, and Norris driving the best of his career and that’s resulted into two straight Top 6 finishes

Alpine At Rock Bottom – Alpine’s recent decline reached it’s lowest point last weekend when they both went out early finishing last and second last, but their speed has really fallen off. Betting Ocon Top 10 was a solid bet early in the season, but he’s finished 14th or worse in four out of five races, and it’s not a bad look to go against Alpine’s in head to heads on race day if they qualify well.

Belgian Grand Prix Betting Notes

-Max Verstappen is now -360 to win the race on most books, and it’s still a good bet.

-This is now two races in a row that both McLaren cars have finished ahead of both Ferrari cars

-Daniel Ricciardo finished ahead of his Alphatauri teammate in his first race back

-Aston Martin’s are falling off. Their best finishes the last three races in order are 5th, 7th, 9th.

Belgian Grand Prix Prediction

It should be another Verstappen win, and despite the weather I don’t think it really hurts him. The rain can cause chaos, but Max is great in the rain. He should be fine in qualifying and during the race, but if the rain comes and goes on Sunday there could be some huge strategy decisions on what tyre to put on. Red Bull is one of the top teams with in-race strategy so as long as Max in the front I don’t worry about his team screwing him over.

Mercedes should be steady, and I would like to get another Hamilton v Russell matchup as Hamilton is consistently ahead of Russell.

Piastri top 10 and top 6, look like strong plays, and I would’ve never guessed that I would have typed that out this season, but it’s the truth. He’s the real deal, and the cars are great.
