(101) Delaware at (102) Western Kentucky: Total
7:00pm EDT - Oct 27/2026

THE PLAY: Total Under 58.0 (-110)

The value on the Under starts with a matchup that looks far less explosive than Delaware’s 61-38 win over Missouri State suggests. Western Kentucky enters with its best defense of the season, but its offensive limitations could make sustained scoring from both sides difficult. The Hilltoppers have allowed only 16 combined points during their current two-game winning streak, including a 16-3 victory at Sam Houston in their most recent game. The market has already moved in that direction. The total opened at 58.5, fell to 55.5, and has settled around 57.5. That move makes sense given the underlying matchup. The clearest advantage for Under bettors is Western Kentucky’s pass defense against a Delaware offense that generates most of its production through the air. The Blue Hens average 268.0 passing yards compared with only 113.7 rushing yards per game, making their offense considerably more dependent on quarterback efficiency than offensive balance.

Western Kentucky, meanwhile, allows only 190.9 passing yards per game, giving the Hilltoppers a legitimate opportunity to pull Delaware below its normal offensive baseline. Delaware converts only 33.0% of its third-down attempts, while Western Kentucky allows opponents to convert just 31.5%, ranking 23rd nationally in third-down defense. If Western Kentucky can limit early-down passing efficiency, Delaware could struggle to produce the extended possessions necessary to approach last week’s scoring output. Delaware scored 61 points against Missouri State, with quarterback Nick Minicucci throwing five touchdown passes, but projecting that production in this game ignores a significant change in matchup quality. Western Kentucky has surrendered just 13 points to Missouri State and three to Sam Houston in its past two games. The Hilltoppers also had more preparation time, last playing October 14, while Delaware played October 20. From a betting perspective, that creates an attractive sell-high situation on Delaware’s offense. The Blue Hens are coming off an extreme scoring performance but now face a rested defense whose recent form and ability to defend the pass present a substantially different challenge.

Western Kentucky averages only 21.3 points and 353.0 yards per game, ranking 113th nationally in scoring and 130th in offensive success rate at 36.6%. The Hilltoppers average 136.0 rushing yards and 217.6 passing yards per game and lack the offensive efficiency to generate points from sustained drives. Delaware is vulnerable defensively, particularly against the pass, but the Hilltoppers’ season-long production makes it difficult to assume they will fully exploit those weaknesses for four quarters. The recent scoring profile supports that argument, as four of Western Kentucky’s past five games have stayed under, including three consecutive unders entering Tuesday.

My technical database provides additional support for a lower-scoring result:

• Conference road teams coming off a home game in which they scored at least 50 points have gone 294-224 to the Under (56.8%) since 1989 in qualifying Week 5-or-later situations, generating an 8.4% ROI;

• Road teams coming off a win after allowing more than 30 points in each of their previous two games have gone 99-65 to the Under (60.4%) vs. opponents also coming off a win, producing a 15.2% ROI;

• A broader system involving road teams following a 50-plus-point home performance has produced a 545-439 Under record (55.4%) since 1989;

• Teams entering off a conference victory with fewer than 150 passing and 150 rushing yards have gone 91-66 to the Under (58.0%) since 2011;

• Road teams coming off a 60-plus-point performance with qualifying totals have gone 84-57 to the Under (59.6%) since 1995.

Collectively, these systems reinforce the same regression concept: the market can overprice offense after an extreme scoring performance, especially when the next matchup presents a different defensive challenge. Western Kentucky's extra preparation time and defensive strengths offer a favorable counter to Delaware's pass-dependent offense, while the Hilltoppers' offensive inefficiency limits their scoring ceiling. The Blue Hens' 61-point performance against Missouri State also inflates expectations of their offensive potential against a much different defensive matchup. Take the Under as Jeff Keim's Free Pick Winner for Tuesday, October 27.

NBA
(517) Washington Wizards at (518) Charlotte Hornets: Total
7:10pm EDT - Oct 26/2026

THE PLAY: Total Under 228.5 (-110)

Charlotte's offensive inefficiency, depleted rotation, and troubling fourth-quarter production create a favorable environment for the Under in Monday's matchup against Washington. The Hornets rank last in the NBA in offensive rating (102.6) and average just 102 points per game on 40.7% shooting, making sustained scoring a major concern. Charlotte has also converted only 29.6% of its three-point attempts, limiting its ability to generate efficient perimeter offense. Those problems are compounded by the absences of Kon Knueppel, Coby White, and Grant Williams, further reducing the Hornets' scoring depth and offensive versatility. Equally concerning is Charlotte's league-worst fourth-quarter scoring average of 20.7 points, suggesting that prolonged offensive droughts could become increasingly problematic as the game progresses. The Hornets have played seven of their last eight games against Eastern Conference opponents under the posted total.

Washington's offense has been more productive at 118 points per game, but its 28.6% three-point shooting is a major limitation against opponents that can protect the paint. The Wizards have relied heavily on Trae Young and Anthony Davis for offensive production, while the absences of Tristan Vukcevic, AJ Dybantsa, and Jamir Watkins further reduce their available depth. Washington's defensive numbers also offer some encouragement, as opponents are shooting just 43.9% from the field and 28.8% from three-point range. Although the Wizards have struggled to prevent scoring overall, those percentages suggest Charlotte may struggle to exploit Washington's defensive weaknesses consistently. The Hornets' inability to generate efficient offense, combined with Washington's perimeter inconsistency and both teams' rotation concerns, supports a game in which scoring possessions become increasingly difficult to convert.

My technical database provides additional support for the Under:

• NBA teams priced between -2.5 and +2.5 coming off an upset win as underdogs in a game that finished under the total have gone 660-522 (55.8%) to the Under since 1996, generating +85.8 units and a +6.6% ROI;

• NBA teams with winning percentages above .500 seeking revenge against opponents entering off an upset victory that finished under have gone 537-410 (56.7%) to the Under since 1989, generating +86.0 units and an +8.3% ROI;

• Conference opponents playing on one day's rest following an upset win as underdogs, against teams that scored more points in the paint in their previous game, have gone 549-450 (55.0%) to the Under since 1989, generating +54.0 units;

• Home teams in their first five games of the season, with totals of at least 228 points and coming off an over in their previous meeting with the opponent, have gone 65-46 (58.6%) to the Under since 2018, generating +14.4 units and an +11.8% ROI;

• Charlotte home games following a home win with fewer than two days of rest have gone 21-4 (84.0%) to the Under since 2022, generating +16.6 units and a +60.4% ROI.

With Charlotte's offensive limitations especially pronounced late in games, the underlying matchup and historical technical indicators support the Under. Take the Under as Jeff Keim’s Free Pick Winner for Monday, October 26.
