Analysis

3% Take Oakland (#928) (action)

The A’s started 1-7 this season.  They’re 16-10 since, including an 8-1 run in their last nine ballgames, despite being priced as underdogs in 22 of those 26 contests. The A’s bullpen has been pitching at a truly elite level; #2 in MLB in bullpen ERA behind only the Yankees.  Oakland’s lineup is in solid current form: averaging more than six runs per game during their current six game winning streak; coming off a 20 run outburst yesterday.

Miami just traded away their best hitter, leadoff sparkplug Luis Arraez, to San Diego for prospects, a demoralizing move for their clubhouse.  Manager Skip Schumaker: "The initial shock factor is definitely real.  We'll see if it goes away in a couple of days….. But when a guy like that is traded, you feel it."  It’s surely worth noting that the Marlins are just 3-9 overall in their last dozen ballgames (all three wins coming against lowly Colorado).

This is an action wager, based on current form, not starting pitching.  That said, Oakland’s Joe Boyle has allowed just a single run in each of his last two home starts while Miami’s converted reliever Sixto Sanchez got bombed by those aforementioned ‘lowly’ Rockies in his last start; allowing 12 hits and 8 earned runs in just 6.2 innings of work in his two previous starts this season combined.  Expect the sweep.  Take the A’s
