Here’s what Cardinals starting pitcher Miles Mikolas had to say following his last outing; bombed by the Brewers:  “It stinks. We played some great defense today, put some runs on the board. I wasn't able to keep the runs off the board. That one's on me today. I didn't do my job out there.”

Mikolas is a veteran hurler off to a rough start; the type of hurler who we expect to figure things out. He’s got something to prove today, clearly.  The Cardinals have started to right the ship, taking two out of three from the D-backs at home to open the week – this is a ‘value-laden’ team RIGHT NOW after their dismal start. 

The Mets are in one of the stronger ‘bet-against’ spots in MLB when you look at the database research – returning home off a road trip after winning the finale, with a day off before their next game; a classic (and profitable) fade spot.  Starter Jose Butto has some VERY concerning advanced metrics – his fastball velocity and his hard hit rate tell us that his solid current form isn’t primed to last.  And it’s not like the Mets have a huge bullpen edge or a strong homefield for that matter.  Live dog here!  Take the Cardinals.
