Analysis

The Mets open a three-game series with the Cardinals at Citi Field. The Mets are coming off a six-game road trip out west, while the Cardinals were home for the last six games. The Mets bats have started to wake up. They are 12th in batting average and wRC+ and are 13th in OPS, runs scored and home runs hit. They are facing Miles Mikolas who has a 6.49 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP. He's allowed five runs in three of his five starts and St. Louis has lost four of his five starts this season. I expect the Mets bats to be able to do enough here, especially early. But I like the Mets pitching even more here. Jose Butto makes his fourth start this season. Butto, who pitched sparingly over the last two years, has been excellent to start the season. Despite having a 0-0 record, his ERA is a tiny 1.65 and his WHIP is 1.04. He's got 21 strikeouts in 16.1 innings. He's limiting opposing batters to a .145 batting average and a .506 OPS. The Cardinals have the fourth highest strikeout percentage on the road against righties on the season. This sets up well for the Mets and the price is favorable here.
