McKenzie rung up six A's in his last start, but we believe that is over-inflating this number for this one. Cleveland's young stud has been open and honest on his struggles with an arm issue. After posting a 25.6-percent strikeout rate in 2022, that number dropped to 21.9-percent last year as he battled injuries. So far in 2024, he's posted a 13.3-percent strikeout rate. Prior to that six-strikeout performance against Oakland last week, McKenzie had five combined strikeouts in his first three starts. He's at the bottom of the league table in contact rate allowed and swinging strike rate. McKenzie traditionally does a good job of striking out right-hand bats, but Boston is capable of stacking between four to six lefties in the lineup against him. McKenzie has posted an 18.1-percent walk rate so far this season, and Boston's lineup is in the top-half of the league in walk rate. McKenzie has issued 13 walks in his last three starts, which has been a disaster for his pitch count and getting through the batting order.
