Analysis

The Knicks and Sixers head to Philadelphia for Game 3 of their series with the Knicks have a 2-0 series lead. There are two main reasons I'm playing the underdog Knicks here. First off, the point spread movement is way too big. The Knicks were a 4.5-point favorite at home in Game 1 and closed as a 5-point favorite in Game 2. Now the Sixers are a 4.5-point favorite? That's close a nine-point swing and it's too much. The Knicks have the better defense and certainly can control and limit the 76ers scoring. The other reason that I will back the Knicks is because they have managed to win both games without their best player playing even close to his best basketball. Jalen Brunson averages 28.7 points per game on 47.9% shooting. In the first two games, Brunson has shot an awful 29.2% from the field, that includes going a combined 2-12 from three-point range. He's averaged 23 points, but clearly he can still be better. He averaged 40.3% shooting against Philly in four regular season games. As long as Brunson is playing at a better level and leading the offense, the Knicks will be in this game with a shot to win it. The line movement is too much and the Knicks are the better team.
