Analysis

The Celtics made easy work of the Miami in Game 1, defeating the Heat 114-94. That final score probably flattered Miami because Boston was up by 32 at the end of the third quarter before coasting home in the final frame. While Boston's performance was fantastic, that 35-point fourth quarter flurry will certainly put some doubt into the minds of those looking to lay this large number. Even after being down by 32 on Sunday, there was a time in the fourth quarter where it looked like Miami was going to crawl through the back door for a point spread cover. Boston continued its barrage from the three-point line, connecting on 45-percent of its attempts from beyond the arc. Nearly 60-percent of the Celtics' field goal attempts came from the three-point line. Seven of eight Celtics players to touch the floor made at least two three-point attempts. The lone player that missed that mark was Jayson Tatum, who still led the team in scoring with 23 points while recording a triple-double. Miami's fourth quarter flurry has us giving the total a second look in Game 2. The Heat only attempted six free throws in Game 1, which is a far cry from the 24 they had in the play-in win over the Bulls. Tyler Herro shot just 4-of-13 from the field while scoring 11 points after averaging 24 points per game against the Celtics in the regular season. If the Celtics go up big like they did in Game 1, the Heat showed that they will still play hard for four quarters. Between more trips to the free throw line and better shooting from Herro, there are avenues to take us over this low total on Wednesday.
