Hakeem Profit
(513) Dallas Mavericks at (514) Los Angeles Clippers
Kawhi missed game 1 but his teammates stepped up meanwhile the Mavs were slow out the gate (similar to regular season when a star sits). I wouldn’t expect that in the playoffs, but it certainly happened. After the extreme slow start to last game, I expect DAL to come out and throw the first punch. “It kind of threw us for a little bit of a loop when they started off the game with him posting up,” Dallas’ Kyrie Irving said of Zubac. “We just have to make adjustments, keep him off the offensive glass and make it tough on the pick-and-rolls. Just match his energy.” Game 2’s are a chance for the team who lost game 1 to make adjustments whereas the team that won continues what was working until they are forced to adjust. In the 2H DAL started to figure it out and they’ll carry that momentum into game 2. Along with adjustments, DAL shot abysmal and I expect them to progress back towards the norm. Luka & Kyrie had 10+ days off after missing the last 2 regular season games and one can argue there was rust. The line is moving because Kawhi is trending towards a return, but he's been out for 9 games and I'd expect him to take a bit to get bck into rhythym. This could throw off a Clippers team that got comfortable playing without him. Mavs get back to looking to looking like the team that ended the season and do so from the jump!
