The Gold Sheet
(513) Dallas Mavericks at (514) Los Angeles Clippers: Luka Doncic Rebounds + Assists
The Mavericks learned a handful of lessons in their Game 1 loss to the Clippers, and in our opinion, those lessons have led us to make a wager in Game 2. Luka Doncic's rebounds + assists total has opened at 18.5, and that's a mark that he's cleared in eight of his last ten games. Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively II were fantastic in the regular season, but they couldn't find their footing against Ivica Zubac and the Clippers' front court in Game 1. A decrease in their playing time in Game 2 and a turn toward a small-ball lineup would open up more rebounding opportunities for Doncic. As far as the assist piece goes, Dallas' supporting cast can't play any worse than they did in Game 1, and Doncic still had six assists. Dereck Lively II, Tim Hardaway Jr., Derrick Jones Jr. and Dante Exum combined to score just 12 total points in Game 1. During the regular season, that unit averaged a combined 38 points per game. The Mavs only made 30-percent of their three-point attempts in Game 1. There will be plenty more opportunities for Doncic to boost his assist total, because there's only one direction for Dallas' offense to go after that performance over the weekend.
