The Mariners are playing their best baseball of the season right now; 5-1 in their last six games; every victory during that span coming by multi-run margins.  Their pitching has been dominant – eight consecutive quality starts heading into tonight – leaving their bullpen rested and ready; a bullpen that currently ranks #3 in MLB in ERA, full season.  That’s bad news for the Rangers lineup facing off against Logan Gilbert today; with three dominant outings in his four previous starts this season and a strong track record against these Rangers.  In three starts against Texas last year, Gilbert allowed two runs or less each time.   Rangers starter Dave Dunning has struggled to eat innings in each of his last two starts; the Mariners roughed him up in their last outing against him on this field. And Texas is in a negative expectation spot today – the database shows that teams off a long road trip AND a day off before their next game are ‘Bet-Against’ in that first game back.  It’s not like they’ve played great baseball in Arlington this year – they lost their last series at home to the lowly A’s.  Take the Mariners.
