Analysis

Judging by the 120-95 final score in Minnesota's favor in Game 1, you wouldn’t think that the Suns were the ones leading after the first quarter. Halftime adjustments were key as the Timberwolves held the Suns to just 44 points in the second half. Kevin Durant scored 31 points on 11-of-17 shooting, but the other members of the Suns' "big three" struggled. Devin Booker and Bradley Beal combined to shoot 11-of-26 from the field, combining for 33 points. The Suns were dominated on the boards by Minnesota as the Timberwolves held a 52-28 rebounding edge. We're leaning toward Minnesota to capture Game 2 as well, but we're a little more interested in the total. "Under" bettors have been lined up at the cashier's window over the last week, but this number has gone a little too far in our opinion. The four meetings between these teams saw an average of 220 points per game this season. Both teams have a knack for getting to the free throw line, as both teams were inside the top-10 in free throw attempts per game. They combined to go 40-of-47 from the free throw line in Game 1. We can also look toward some improvement from the three-point line as they combined to shoot 35-percent from beyond the arc over the weekend. Both teams were top-5 in the league in three-point shooting during the regular season. The league-wide trend of playoff unders has pushed this total too low, in our opinion.
