The Gold Sheet
(901) Philadelphia Phillies at (902) Cincinnati Reds: Trea Turner Total Bases
Andrew Abbott is an exciting pitching prospect for the Reds, but his righty vs lefty splits are notable. In his rookie season last year, Abbott allowed 16 home runs. Fourteen of those 16 were against right-hand bats. Abbott allowed 44 walks last season. Forty of those 44 walks came against right-hand bats. He finished the year with a 0.84 WHIP against lefties and a 1.47 WHIP against righties. Abbott has already allowed eight extra-base hits to right-hand batters this season, including three home runs and five doubles. Trea Turner is in the midst of an 11-game hitting streak, and he's cleared this 1.5 bases mark in seven of his last nine games. Turner enters Tuesday in the top-30th percentile among hitters in expected batting average, exit velocity, hard-hit rate, expected slugging percentage and whiff rate. The Phillies are on the road, guaranteed to get their full allotment of at-bats.
