Analysis

3% Chi White Sox F5 +0.5 (7:40 ET): First off, please note that I’m not only playing just the first five innings here, but also the run line (+0.5). Without question, the White Sox are the worst team in all of baseball at the moment. Their record is 3-18 and they’ve been outscored by 71 runs after being swept over the weekend in Philadelphia. Seven times they’ve been shutout and seven times they’ve lost by 5+ runs. Thirteen of their last 15 losses have been by multiple runs. So it’s not looking good on the South Side. But, every dog has its day and Monday I do think the Sox have a fighting chance. At least early on.

The Twins’ start to 2024 is not nearly as poor as the White Sox, but LY’s AL Central Champs are 7-13 with a -25 run differential. So it’s really tough to justify their current price range, even against the worst team in baseball. Thus far, the Twins have not closed higher than -140 on the ML for any game this season. They are also just 2-6 at home after losing 2 of 3 to the Tigers over the weekend, and have dropped 6 of their last 7 games overall. Considering the Twins are scoring just 3.3 runs per game, I am having difficulty seeing them being able to get separation for the F5 innings tonight.

Especially if Jonathan Cannon pitches the way he did in his first start for the White Sox. He went five innings against the Royals on April 17th and gave up just one run on three hits. When Cannon left, the Sox were winning 2-1. With the 6’6” rookie on the mound again tonight, I think they have an edge early as Minnesota will hand the baseball to Chris Paddack, who was roughed up for 9 runs and 12 hits last time out and now has an 8.36 ERA/2.071 WHIP for the season. Against Oakland, another bad team, Paddack lasted just 2 ⅓ IP and gave up three runs. I’d like to leave the White Sox bullpen out of this, but they are live in the F5. 3% Chi White Sox F5 +0.5 (Play to -105)
