Analysis

The Padres start a series with the Rockies at Coors Field. This is a favorable spot to lay the 1.5 here with the Padres on the road to ensure that they get all nine at-bats. The pitching matchup is also in our favor as Dylan Cease goes for San Diego. Cease has been great to start the season. He's now gone six innings in three straight starts and has gone 22.2 innings on the season with a 1.99 ERA, a 0.93 WHIP and 27 strikeouts. The walks have been a bit of an issue but Colorado is bottom five in walk rate on the season. The Padres will be hitting against Austin Gomber. The lefty has a 4.95 ERA and 1.50 WHIP. The Padres haven't hit lefties well from a batting average standpoint batting just .214, but they are top 10 in OPS and wRC+ because they hit a lot of home runs against them. Is there a better ballpark to hit home runs than Coors Field? San Diego's eight home runs against lefties are the second most in the bigs. Lastly, the Rockies played a double-header yesterday against Seattle and their bullpen is taxed. But they are also just a bad bullpen to begin with posting a 5.20 ERA, which is the 7th highest in baseball, and the highest WHIP at 1.65 and the most walks at 52. San Diego should have chances late if needed to cover this number. We get a good price on the juice here as well to lay the 1.5.
