The Gold Sheet
(977) Miami Marlins at (978) New York Yankees
Ryan Weathers is someone that probably isn't going to enjoy pitching at Yankee Stadium. To be successful in the Bronx, you need to generate strikeouts. Unless Weathers has unlocked something unique during the offseason, he's going to struggle with this lineup. Weathers was in the bottom-15th percentile among pitchers in both strikeout rate and walk rate last season. After getting traded from San Diego to Miami last season, Weathers had 12 walks in 13.0 innings with the Marlins. So far this season, the Yankees' lineup is No. 1 in chase rate and No. 3 in contact rate while swinging at the fewest pitches in the league. They are disciplined, and they will make Weathers throw strikes. Miami's lineup has enjoyed some success against Stroman in the past. In 100 plate appearances, Miami's current lineup has a .261 average against Stroman. We're going to stay away from the bullpens (Yankees' bullpen was dominant last night) and focus on this first five total where both lineups should be able to generate base runners against the opposing starter.
