4% Philadelphia Phillies (-136) over LA Angels —
Even though I do think Sanchez is due for a solid start, I don’t think this matchup relies solely on the starting pitching. Sanchez is just 1-3 on the year but regardless, his 2.59 ERA is impressive. While Griffin Canning has just as many wins but has posted a 7.50 ERA thus far into the season!
When you look at the splits on the given sites, Philadelphia is dominating on the road. The Phillies are 8-4 away from home this season, allowing opponents to put up just 2.7 runs/game and hit a combined .182 off the Phillies pitching staff!
The Angels are just 3-8 @ H this season and their pitching staff is allowing opponents to put up over 6 runs/game on their field. That has been partially the fault of the starting pitching, but the bullpen also has a 7.12 combined ERA at home this year!
The Angels have struggled early in the season, outside of Trout, especially as of late. They are just 1-9 in their L10 games, allowing 6.5 runs/game, and losing by over 3 runs/game. Now they have to attempt to turn things around against the Phillies team that is 5-1 against the Angels in the L3Y.
Last but not least, since Rob Thompson took over as manager the Phillies are 40-10 against teams that are losing by 1+ runs/game.
