2% Take Colorado (#908) (action)

My clients and I cashed an underdog winner with Colorado at Pittsburgh this past weekend, ‘fading a false favorite’ with the Pirates.  San Francisco today is every bit the ‘false favorite’ that the Pirates were last Friday!  I understand full well that the Rockies are a losing team; it’s hard to make money betting bottom feeders in MLB.  But the Rockies have shown life following a team meeting last week.  They beat up on the Giants on this field last year, despite Colorado’s dismal record.  Starter Dakota Hudson is coming off his best outing of the season; the bullpen behind him is rested after a day off yesterday. 

More than any other factor, this is a bet against the slumping Giants as road chalk.  San Francisco is 1-6 on their current road trip.  Their bats couldn’t be much colder, producing 2, 3, 3, 0, 2, 3, 3, 3, 4 and 1 run in their last ten games; nary an offensive outburst in any of them.  The Giants bullpen has been getting lit up, game after game, currently among the bottom five in bullpen ERA this season.  Starter Kyle Harrison was hit hard in his lone start against the Rockies last year and he’s never pitched at Coors Field before; bad news for a guy coming off a season high five walk effort in his last outing.  This team has no business as big road chalk today, a ‘must fade’ in this price range. Take the Rockies.
